The Best Sloppy Joe Sliders

Last updated on December 16th, 2021

Although my kids are already college-age, when it comes to these sloppy joe sliders, they can’t get enough of them! I have to confess, I find them to be something of a guilty pleasure myself. They are super snackable and go down easy. So so guilty…

Tips & Tricks for making the Best Sloppy Joe Sliders

There are only a few differences between these Sloppy Joe Sliders and your typical regular size version. The glaze that gets brushed before baking is the biggest difference, which has the soy sauce, mustard and sesame seeds.

  • Sweet Hawaiian rolls
  • American cheese
  • ground beef
  • white onion
  • sloppy joe sauce
  • butter
  • brown sugar
  • Dijon mustard
  • soy sauce
  • garlic
  • sesame seeds

You can substitute Dijon mustard for spicy mustard, and you can of course, swap out the minced onion and garlic for the powdered varieties. If you decide to use the dehydrated versions, be sure to adjust downwards, as the powdered versions are much stronger.

Preheat oven to 350°. Remove the Hawaiian rolls from the package and cut them in half – without them separating.

Place bottom half of the rolls in a 13×9-inch baking pan.

Top with half of the American cheese, set aside.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.

Add can of sloppy joe sauce, soy sauce and brown sugar to ground beef and continue to heat for another 5 minutes until sauce is completely heated through.

Spoon sloppy joe mixture onto bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls.

Place other half of the American cheese on top of the sloppy joe mixture.

xPrepare glaze: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, mustard, soy sauce, garlic, sesame seeds, and onion. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, or until butter has melted. Mix thoroughly

Top Sloppy Joe Sliders with top half of sweet Hawaiian rolls.

Use a pastry brush to brush butter mixture onto the top of the sliders.

Bake in oven for 10 – 15 minutes and rolls are golden brown.

Serve immediately.

Serving suggestion: serve with chips, fries, cole slaw or potato salad!
